This is what's know as the "mini-me" swap. You can use the head from the d16z6 or the d16y8, but the y8 is a bit better. All you really need for this swap in your case is a complete head with VTEC solenoid. Even your manifold setup should work fine. Expect to pay around $200 or so for a head.

Basically, unbolt your intake and exhaust from your stock head. Drain the oil and coolant. Remove the valve cover and unbolt the head in the proper sequence shown in the manual you already have. Remove the oil control jet on the top/rear/center of the block. Carefully remove any remnants of your old head gasket, replace it with a nice new Y8 gasket, and put your Y8 head on, torquing it in reverse order to the removal and to the proper specs. Reattach the manifolds and coolant line. Put new coolant and oil in.
Then run a line for the RPM activated trigger to turn on the solenoid at the desired RPM. There's many how-tos on this floating around.
