to give some backround on desi (indian) families.
- many families still believe in the cast system = super retarded, even to bring that trait over seas was the dumbest thing ever to do.
- when the girls family is rich - they would like to find a suitable guy who comes from a rich family and be of equivlent social statues - I.E. = girls parents are doctors, boys parents own a gas station or 2, have same amount of money, but it still wouldnt work out because the boys family is considered to be a lower social status because of the jobs the parents hold.
- connections - girls family is rich, boys family is rich, BUT, if boys family is not well known in community, no dice. usually the father of the daughter doesnt care about this, but its the mother that would have a problem.
there are so many more elements to this, which i personally think is bullshit. i dont think someones love for another should be judged based upon the social status of the family or for any other reason based on the fact that they are in love.
