I just thought. If you have rear disc, then you do not need to upgrade. They are all the same on Hondas. the front are not. sometimes I think my brain is fried. Here is the front(note these are for a Sol , but should be the same for Civic)
First you have to determine what size front brakes you have now.
You either have the "small" 9.4" rotors, or the "large" 10.2" rotors.
If you measure the diameter of the rotor you will find it is closer to either 9.4 or 10.2".
From my understanding S & Si models have 9.4" Front's and VTEC models (DOHC) have 10.2". It is possible (I suppose) for an Si to have the larger brakes.
If you have the 10.2's you can uprade to 11" using components from the Prelude/Accord. This is known as "TypeR" brakes because it is the same size you will find on the Civic/Integra TypeR models. Some work is required however it is not a direct bolt on deal. More on this later...
If you have the smaller rotors like the rest of us, you can upgrade to the 10.2". From there you can upgrade to the 11". To use either the 10.2 or 11 upgrade you must change the hub/spindles etc to the 10.2 ones.
It is best to just get the whole assembly from either a junk yard, eBay, or the good people at PasswordJDM.com (cost is about 200). You should be able to use delSol VTEC/Most Integra models/Civic SI -
Simply replace your existing components with the ones you have purchased. Just be sure to replace the rotors and pads with new ones...
TYPE R BRAKES :
You can use rotors from the Prelude VTEC (not SH model) and Accord Wagon 5dr Calipers to upgrade the 10.2" setup to 11". You have to re-drill the holes in the rotors to line up with your 4x100 pattern and shave some material from the caliper so it mounts correctly. There is a nice HOW-TO for this located on the -
www.teamdelsol.com - HOWTO page called "TypeR Brakes"
OTHER OPTIONS
You can also upgrade using the complete 4x114.4 conversion from the early Integra TypeR or the newer 5x100 conversion from the Civic & Integra TypeR. These should be direct bolt on applications but you will most likely have to buy new wheels, especially with the 5lug conversion. Both setups provide you with bigger brakes. From my understanding you can upgrade the 5lug to accomodate Calipers from the NSX.
