I used JB Weld to stick a phone reciever to the switches on the base. You'd be able to pick up the reciever just enough so that it was considered 'off the hook' but you couldn't actually take it off... the hook. So they'd have to put it back down again, putting it 'on the hook' and hanging up on the caller.

It was great for a few laughs.
