well if the problem started right after doing something that would be what I'd lean towards but it's not always that. You may have just pushed forward a problem that's been brewing for a while...
Make sure there isn't anything rubbing on the needle or the gauge shaft.
If you were gentle and didn't bend anything in there you should be fine. Heck the indiglo gauges could have been rubbing on the needle the entire time and now it's back to working correctly.
