When changing oil, I usually put a little oil in the filter before I spin it on. I've always heard that it helps to bring the oil pressure up quicker (don't know if it really helps) Don't put too much in though, because it will pour out on your arm. I fire the car up, let it run a couple minutes, then shut it down and check the level. I add what it needs, then it's good to go.
