That was a minor incident.

I remember back in 1993 when the internet was just a baby. MUSEs, MUDDs, and other chat places were all text. I was part of a MUSE that was dungeons and dragons based. We all decided that we should have a get together in Cleveland, OH.

About 30 of us showed up. The get together was somewhat funny. You had the metal heads, preppies, computer geeks, and jocks. I was in the preppies. So we had hamburgers and hot dogs, your typical picnic.

Somoene brought along some Super Soakers and started a water fight. I happen to pick up one that was lying around and joined in the fun. Girl came up behind me (found out later she was somewhat mental) and said "That water gun is MINE!" And she pulled out a knife.

Now mind you I just tested for my black belt about 1 month prior and most of my self defenses were still fresh in my head. My 1st reaction when I saw the knife was to go for the wrist, because when you bend the wrist your grasp on items gets weaker. Once I bent her wrist I grabbed the knife out of her hand. Spun it around and pointed it back at her face and said "IF YOU DON'T PUT THIS KNIFE AWAY I'M NOT GOING TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU!" And then I slammed the knife into the picnic table, so it stuck there.

I turned to look and had about 30 pairs of eyes all agape Like they couldn't believe 1) she pulled a knife on me, and 2) that I disarmed her that quickly. For the next couple of months that was the talk on the MUSE site. I left about 2 hours after that because I was in a room right next door to her at the hotel.
