When all said and done to make it legal maybe around $5000 just take the stuff back off. The reason the milage is so low is because there are so many cars hear they arnt worth as much like the states, you cant drive that far or very fast before you have to stop because of the ocean or stoplight and so many people. People are allways getting new cars. I have seen almost brand new cars here in the junk yard and wonder why they are there. I feel like I am blabing on now.
I also live in Japan (Tochigi) and I Have a 92 Civic SIR2. Im doing the research now to have my car imported to the US but Ive read about stories of people trying to import thier cars only to have them impounded at the port of entry. Its a stupid law that was erradicated in 2003 and its so far true that only a 1990-1999 skyline GTs/GTR can be imported bec there never existed any car like it in the US. I might have to say sayonara to my car that ive owned for 3 years. and have upgraded with many Japanese and American aftermarket parts. Its just a way for the U.S. to get sticky about control. Its ashamed because here in Japan you can import practically anything, hell, my Japanese friend has a 94 Cadillac Deville with full air ride its LHD and he drives it here...I feel like they have more freedom than we do.
