I do all maintenance on my own car except stuff I lack the equipment for (i.e. allignment, mounting tires). I've done pretty much everything short of assembling a motor or tranny, never thought anything was particularly difficult or complicated. The biggest problem I run into is siezed bolts and whatnot... nothing technical.

I highly reccomend you get yourself a FSM or helms and DIY... fairly easy, very rewarding, much cheaper than idiot mechanics.
