I installed some Focal 165 KP Components last summer. They fit fine in the doors...the shop where I got them gave me two extra grill trim rings for free that i need to use for spacers. I installed the tweets in the stock location in the corners of dash and used the factory cloth grills. I stashed the Xovers underneath the front seats, it's nice to be able to adjust if you need to. everything looks stock from the interior. At the same time I installed a pair of JL TX-690TXi coax in the back. (replacing all stock speakers) I also REMOVED a 10" Sub and sound stream amp. When I did listening tests, the SQ, Bass, and SPL were all better with the new speakers and NO Sub. I have since added 2 12w6v2's sounds even better. I would also recommend not running off of any Deck. when I installed the subs in Nov. I switched from running speakers off my deck tjo Phoenix Gold Titanium amps--a WORLD of difference. Better clarity, mids, highs, lows...
When I listened to MB Quart the titanium tweeter domes sounded too tinny, so I chose my Focals and I've been pleased witht them ever since. But you might also want to check out the new JL ZR line...I heard those in the mini demo car last summer and they sounded pretty darn good too.
Wow, props on the system those specs sound great. Did the JL 6x9's fit without removing the trunk springs? I don't think I'm going to waste money on an AMP for my Accord I so rarely drive the car anymore that the money would be better spent on home stereo gear. I'll check out the focals but I'm not sure I need speakers with that much power handling. I had a new JL 300-4 Amp in the box for some time but I sold that to buy a new digital camera
I'll have to see what we do after the move, I'm not sure if the Accord will ever get much in the way of a stereo. And I love the TSX's system so that's out. But I still have a company car they may need some speakers or a headunit, base model head units suck.
