I was also thinking that if I can't find them, then I can try to just make some out of fiberglass myself, but if they are pretty cheap I'd rather just buy them and get it done with. This was a couple of months ago, and I'm finally deciding to fix it.

Anyone know where they sell them?
a) you do not have to hack up anything, I have 6x9s in the back of my 94 accord lx, and all you do is unscrew the mounting deck for the 6 1/4s or whatever the stock pieces of crap are, and then you have about a 6x9 opening.

b) just cut some 1/2" or 1/4" if you can find it plywood or fiberboard the size of the 6x9s. Make 2 per speaker. Mount the speaker to one (underneath), put the other frame on top and screw together... put a strip of weatherstripping in between to make it rock solid. The stock plastic/fabric covers will still fit just fine, and you will be good to go.... any hacking of the metal and mounting to that will make it sound terrible. Plus who needs pods, it will sound just fine... my setup involves a lot more then just swappin out the speakers, but I have never had anything but compliments.
