amps that have 1 channel have one speaker output (+ and -), to 1 speaker. 2 channel amps can have two speaker outputs, so you hook it up to 2 speakers, 4 to 4 and so on.

mono's are used for subs, i assume mono = 1, they tend to create more power i think.. but i really have no idea about mono subs h:
