Fastest SOHC d16y8 Civic I've seen was doing mid 12's street legal. You will get lower times with a DOHC tweaked in the same fashion as the SOHC. If mid 12's isnt what your looking for and you want to get lower times then yea do a swap to a better engine.
dont be a moron. why would you want more than 12's. josh's best time is in the 12's so far and he runs a boosted and built c1. pat runs 1 12.6 on a stock d16z6 with a super 60 t3. and if you have only seen 12's from a sohc, you havent seen very much skipper. and dont say big power cant be made with a sohc either , dozens of people put in pistons and rods and run 15psi daily and push alot of power, there are alos those who build the motor up and have over 500whp.
