If you have a D-series engine the alternator is a pain in the ass to pull out. Once you have the alternator belt off you'll need to jack up the front of the car and rest it on stands. Then place the jack under your oil pan with a block of wood in between to protect it (your oil pan). Raise the jack until it supports the weight of your engine, then undo the engine mount @ the timing cover. Jack up your engine a little and finish un-bolting your alternator from the bracket and undo the electrical connetions. Jack up your engine until you can remove the alternator (just warning you it's gonna be tight). Then clean your electrical connection (brass eyelet 10mm nut) and install the new one. Start up your car and check charging voltage with a multi-meter (should be about 14v, depending on your battery voltage).
This is alot easier to do than popping out the drivers side drive shaft and pulling it that way. Hope this helps.
