on a civic, at about 3500 rpm, you can shift to the next gear as long as you revv match. if your RPM go up, you'll grind. If they are too low, you'll get nothing, and have to clutch.

I'm going to have to go ahead and disagree with you young fellow... No matter how good it feels, it's hard on the synchros... If ya get in the habit of not using your clutch when shifting, get used to hearing loud grinding sounds when you finally decide the clutch is more fun...
