I think that "conservatism opposes christian values" can be true in certain aspects, but it generally isn't.
Going to war is not a sin. However, I think that it would be better if christians would say "thou shall not murder" instead of "kill" just to prevent confusion. Murder and kill mean two different things, and they definetly are not interchangable, especially in this day and age.
Capital punishment does seem to go against belief, as does truth in sentencing. It would make more sense if christians would forgive offenders if they repent, but conservatives tend to advocate truth in sentencing.
Jesus would never call for the use of brute force to combat oppression, but christian leaders have led crusades, throughout history.
