However, I do agree (on this particular point) with Project ITR. When I bought my Accord (a month ago) I just found out what the dealer paid for it and gave him $500 over invoice. Car was listed 21500 (at the dealership), invoice was 19,000, I paid 19,500. Probably could got better deal but did not want to lose time. I went to 3 dealers. First two wanted to waster my time. Third took my offer in 5 minutes - we made a deal.

Dealer/sales-man is NOT doing you a favor by selling you the car. You are doing him a faveor (and you put food on his table) by choosing to buy a VERY expensive product (i.e. car) from him. I once had 3 salespersons and their managers trying to convince me that I cannot get a better deal then 20,500 (on 21,500 list price) and I just laughed to their face and told them (and I quote): "Guys, you are wasting your breath and my time." I walked out and got my deal somewhere else.

Just my 2 cents.
exactly. that's all you have to do. he's got the invoices, and there's ALWAYS dealercash on civics...right now i think there is around 1000 on all models but Si and hybrid, so you should be able to get that civic for invoice or up to 1000 less. if you pay any more than invoice you've got nobody to blame but yourself. you cant get what you dont ask for. you tell them what you want either they do it, or you leave. simple. somebody will give you the deal you want, and you dont have to buy the 1st trip to the dealership. if you go, and then leave unhappy most of the time they'll catch u before u can leave and give you what you want. whoever caves first loses. all you gotta do is hold out longer than the salesperson, and with all the weak ass salespeople they have out there that shouldn't be long. now where i worked, we didn't have many weak asses, thank goodness. but they're not hard to find. good luck, and lemme know how it goes
