when haggling with the dealer play hardball. ask the dealer what the asking price is to see what he says. then make your offer and make it below what you would actually pay. they'll usually come down a bit and expect you to come up on your offer. start at like $6000 and work your way up. they probably gave ~$4000 on the trade in in the first place. if he gets to a point where he won't budge, basically say no deal and start to leave. the dealer will usually try to stop you or call you within a few hours. tell them if you pay any more than $6500 for the car you'll feel like you're getting screwed. point out every flaw you see in the car no matter how minor. that's a good bargaining tool.
