You cannot write a song without expressing some emotion of some sort. The song in return conveys that emotion to its audience. Regardless of if it is the most generic pop song sung by Jessica Simpson it still conveys some form of emotion in some way whether you as a listener realize it or not.

Wow, you read way too far into that. I didn't mean literally NO emotion, but rather superficial emotions that people experience on a day to day basis, rather than a deeper, more heart-wrenching experience that "emo" bands base their music off of.
Britney Spears' music, while utilizing emotion, doesn't even compare to other bands such as Brand New or the 10+ other bands I mentioned. They're on two completely different levels and if you can't see that, maybe you're the amateur.
