I've spun twice and both times I luckily escaped unscathed. The first time I was driving home from school. I am on this 2 lane backroad and I see a minivan up ahead waiting to pull out. I was really pissed off that night but I wasn't going too fast, like 40 but the roads was sandy and this was the first time I'd really driven on a dry sandy roads. I overestimated the traction I had. So I am approacing this minivan and and the last second it starts to move. So I downshifted so I could power out of the swerve and I swerved around it. Now that I think back I way overreacted. I don't even think it was in my path at all. Anger + driving = bad. So I swerve left and then I turn back right. However I feel the back of the car is loose. I cut the wheel back left and floored it to try to get the front of the car to catch up so it doesn't spin. It came back a little bit but it was too late. I let go of the wheel, pushed in the clutch and let it go. I spun a full 360 degrees and ended up on the shoulder of the other side of the road with the front of the car facing the road. I looked behind me and saw some trees 6 feet from my rear bumper. I just drove off, didn't even check to see if there was anything wrong with the car. There was grass stuck in the bead I found out later but that's about it.
The second time again with the sand I was going around an onramp I go around everyday on the way to school. It was again dry but sanded and there was like this narrow path where there wasn't any sand from so many cars. I'm going pretty fast, like 45 in 3rd gear. It gets tighter at the end and then straightens out so I lift off the gas a little to get the rear end to rotate a little bit. I was still on the not sandy part but my line was right on the edge. So I lift and the rear comes out a little bit. The outside rear tire catches the sand and the car goes sideways. I just straightened out the wheel and let it go. I end up stopping at the end the grassy divider thing that seperates the highway from the end of the ramp after spinning 90 degrees. Would've really sucked if I went into the highway and there was a car coming. This was like 2 days after the first incident.
I don't drive like I used to. I don't think I'll get lucky a third time. I used to drive fast ever single time I drove. Getting the car taken away for the $375 speeding ticket wasn't any fun either.
