Running Cold?
Hey all,
It's been cold up here in the Northeast this week(below 0 deg. F), and I've noticed my '01 GSR seems to run a bit cold, but I'm not sure because I've only had the car a couple months.
Basically I start the car in the morning, let it warm up for 20 sec. and just drive it. If I'm driving under load the car will warm up just fine. The temp guage will go up between 1/4 and 1/2 when fully heated. But as the car is warming up while I'm driving, if I stop at a red light or leave the car idling for any amount of time it will actually cool back down. I watch the temp guage go down while I stop at a light in the morning.
I also noticed this when I left the car running while I went into the coffee shop. It was fully heated when I left it idling, and then 3min later when I came back the temp guage was all the way down at the "C."
Is this how they usually run, or is there probably an issue? It doesn't seem to be a normal thermostat issue, but I could be wrong.
