Default blower motor replacement on a '96 accord

I was hoping it could be found right behind the glove box but I took a look and all I saw was the passenger side airbag component along with a few other things I can't do anything with anyway. I'm beginning to suspect I may need to remove the entire dash to get at the blower motor?

If so, does anybody have a good way to get started? I've taken off the panel which goes from the storage box between the seats, through the brake lever/gear shifter and up to the radio/clock. An old friend showed me how to do this when I installed an aftermarket stereo a few years ago and I've done it a couple of times since. But now I don't know what to do next. I see a small panel underneath the steering wheel but I really don't want to go any further unless I have some idea of what I'm doing.

Anybody able to help? (and also, if I'm on the wrong track and the blower motor can be replaced without removing the dash PLEASE let me know now. I had thought this would be a simple task and it's killing me )

Thank you for any help available.
