My check engine light has been on for a while. It is a 67 on my 98 GSR. I took it to my shop and they hooked it up to the computer. It is the Cat Convertor. Not the sensors or anything. The actual cat. So they reset it and told me if it came back on I would need to replace it. Well it came back on.

I have been told an aftermarket cat will be around $300.

I don't feel like spending $300 on that part if it is not hurting my car. I don't like hurting the enviornmet either but I'd rather not pay $300 to get that check engine light off if its not hurting my car. Are there cheaper cats out there? Could I possibly find a used one and stick it on? Any suggestions? I see $15 dollar things on ebay but I'm guessing that is just a straight pipe.
