Silicone works as well as bondo and isn't as messy. Silicone comes off like a banana peel if you ever want to remove it, well.... it has a little more resistance than that.

I'm just suggesting you consider it. Depending on how much mesh you want to put on it may or may not work. But for small or medium amounts of mesh colored matched RTV silicone it really easy.
