The Dell 600m offers everything that you want. But if you dont mind the hassle, you should upgrade the ram and harddrive elsewhere.
I have the 600m and love it. It is much more quiet than the HP laptop that I've had. The CPU fan is only on when it starts to heat up, maybe about 30 mins of use. Then it shuts off after a min or two. The screen is very nice, although I have viewed better. The only complaint would be the build quality. The screen is too flimsy to not carry it around with extra caution. The battery giggles in place. And the plastic case has some flex to it.
14" and under 5lbs

I caught the $500 off deal and got this for about $1200 all said and up with the upgrades. However I do not know of any deals that are going on with Dell that is worth mentioning. Do you have a budget in mind? I know a DVD burner is quite an expensive add on.
