Schmiddy is right if you want to get the car to handle better cheaply....
Buy a set of really nice tires, sticky is good but if money is an issue get a Z or V rated tire with a high tread wear number. You may want to go up a bit on the width too. Just work the numbers so the aspect ratio is the same.
www.tirerack.com Do what's called a plus 0 size.
Example: if stock is a 195/65/15 go plus 0 and get a 215/60/15 tire more width same height.

No if you want to AutoX my next mod would be a camber kit, this way your tire shop can set the camber a bit more aggressively for you.

Then after this I would look to upgrade more....but do the tires first...if the car is used you likely need them anyhow.
