A judge in the US has overturned a lower court's decision awarding Anna Nicole Smith $88.5 million from her late billionaire husband J. Howard Marshall, who married her when he was 89 years old.

The lawyer representing the 1993 Playboy playmate of the year vowed to ask the court to reconsider its decision and would launch an appeal if necessary.

Smith married Marshall in 1994 when she was 26, he died 14 months later.

In March of 2002, Smith was awarded the $88.5 million inheritance.

The three-judge panel of the US 9th Circuit Court of Appeals reversed the March decision earlier this week.
