It's not for someone with a welding rig. Providing also that they know how to weld worth a damn or you'll get a leaky stinky POS converter out of the deal.
But if you go that route, you will require more labor. Which in turn will cost you money. Money that you'd save if you bolted the right catalytic converter back that you know already fits. A good cat>a burnt-up clogged-up non working cat for performance anyway. If you have half-decent tools like a 1/2" breaker bar, swapping factory converters is a breeze to do by yourself.
