nevermind poping off the valve cover just change it.
If it breaks while you are driving on the highway you could bend a valve if the valve is stuck open when the belt breaks. this would be even more costly than changing the belt because youd have to take the head off change the valve and of course change the timing belt.....just one thing to consider... theres a thing called preventive maintenance.
