Well lighter oils are necessary on Honda engines because of the high revs. I guess I got so used to our Honda engines calling for 5W-30 that I never thought about the two you mentioned.
However I'm pretty sure following the manual this early in the game is one of the best things you can do. I wouldn't change the oil until it's closer to it's first scheduled interval and I would just stick with the manual for now.
