Yes, especially the first oil change. Unless you have a reason to follow the extreme duty schedule, you might want to go even longer on the first change.
Remember to check the oil level frequently, however. I'm serious about the oil consumption. You will be surprised how much a K motor can use in the beginning, especially coming from your B motor '00 Si.
