Zero out the trip meter when you fill up and look at the number of miles on it the next time you fill up. (make sure you fill it all the way up, don't just put a few bucks in it) Then do the same math.
Kind of the same math, but instead wouldn't you devide the miles driven by the actual amount of gasoline you put into the car..?
I don't know, but either way you'll get a pretty good estimate of what your getting.
