It's really too late. The DC5 doesn't have much longer as a production run.
There's also no marketing reason and no homologation reason to bring over a DC5 ITR. The
DC2 ITR came over to meet homologation rules for racing, but the DC5 can race just as it is. To win races with the DC2, Honda needed a different motor and some serious chassis bolstering to keep the rear chassis from ripping apart at several points. The DC5 doesn't need that kind of re-enforcement to race in the USDM.
The DC5 is homologated as the USDM Type S under FIA/SCCA Group N rules just as it is, and then modified according to whatever series (World Cup, USTCC) it needs to fit in.
Honda/Acura are even rethinking the entire marketing image of the Acura marque.
When Acura was first introduced, it was the "sports" line with the original Integra. When the Legend was introduced as an Acura instead of a Honda, a long fight began over the "luxury" image versus the "sporty" image.
There's a little gossip out of Torrance that lines like the former Integra and current RSX would only be introduced in the future as sporty versions of the Honda line, not the Acura line.
It's possible that ugly 2006 Civic that everybody's talking about could be introduced in an "Si" variant designed to replace the entire USDM Acura RSX marque!
