Yeah you can get wider seats in the SRT-4 when you option the side airbags but they're fugly regular Neon seats. The Mitsubishi EVO has Recaros in it and they're mighty comfy for me. But Dodge, the American company, has to make the seats overly confining in the SRT-4? I fit fine in all but the smallest 1-piece racing seats and yet when I sit in an SRT-4 I have to push my thighs together so much my balls get crushed. I guess adding $1500 to the bottom line for a set of Sparco Torinos would still keep it relatively affordable, but really, it's unacceptable to have to even take that into account.
As for hitting the WRX's seat bolster while shifting, I can't remember. Been a while since I drove a WRX. If it happened at the time it didn't stick out in my mind as being overly annoying. The shifter on the other hand, is a ropey piece of crap. I also didn't like the pedal layout so much.
