If you're planning to build a strict track-only car for auto-x or HPDE, you can't go too far wrong with the 1st gen.... but somehow, I doubt that's what's going to happen here.

Chassis-wise, the torsion bar / McPherson strut suspension is decent compared to other cars from the same period, but again, if building a track car, I'd recommend an EG Civic hatch or a DC Integra. h:
