Default Seat belt problem after stereo got stolen

My Honda Accord 1990 got burglarized and the stereo got stolen. I believe the door was open, particularly because the thieves didn't do any "apparent" damage to get inside. Likewise, the stereo was removed without any damage to the dashboard. However, the automatic seat belts stopped working. Both seat belts are locked in different positions and the seat belt warning light is off, although it should presumably be activated as both belts are disconnected. Does anyone know why this is so and how I can fix it? I wonder if the thieves damaged the automatic seat belt system on their way into the car or whether the source is electrical.
Thanks.
