I had the exact same problem!
My car is in the shop RIGHT NOW for the same problem. My coil was putting up zero resistance.
Like the other people said it's very easy to test your coil and your igniter (aka ICM). Your best bet would be to get a multimeter and also a Hayne's manual or something. They will tell you what the resistances need to be for the primary and secondary circuits.
The hard part is not destroying your distributor casing because the screws can be tricky. (on my GS-R) anyway. I was charged .7 hours shop time for the replacement so I just said to hell with it and paid for the shop to get it done.
