Question w/ 1999 Accord
Alright, Im new on here and would appreciate any useful information regarding my problem..
I have a 1999 Accord sedan, manual trans... The car is either burning or losing oil really fast.. I had my oil changed last towards the end of september and within I would say a month or 1500 miles at the most, the engine was basically dry. I had it checked and looked under the car for any leaks and none that the mechanic or I could find.. They didn't really have an idea of what problem could be.. Neither did the dealing and they're asking for crazy money just to look at. Ya know how they do..
As far as performance is concerned.. When the oil is running low, the car picks up, hesitates or kicks back a little, then picks up again for every gear.. it doesn't do it tho when the oil level is good.. At times, I get a smell of rotten eggs thru the vents when I go up a hill and some what lose power.. this is not all the time and the smell isn't really strong either.. They were saying this is usually a sign that the catilet converter is going bad.. If that is the case tho, is it causes the oil consumption too?
At this point, I don't mind fixing the converter even tho theyre saying that part doesn't really go bad.. But if I have to get it changed then fine but I want it to do away with that oil consumption problem too..
Have ya ever had or heard of this problem? Like I said any comments are appreciated!! The car only has 93,000 miles... oil changes every 3500-4000 miles too...
Thanks!!!!
