Crank Pulley bolt lol...I hate that thing

I paid to have my timing belt changed because it was dirt cheap. 150 for labor and I had already purchased the parts for it.

Couple things I found out about that bolt but did not act on.

The local dealership was willing to take the bolt off and put it back on for me loose enough that I could drive the car home, take the bolt off and change my belt, and then have them put the bolt back on properly.

Another option is to have a shop do the work and you provide the parts. All told it cost me maybe 350 to have the belt changed after parts and labor. Buy a water pump and the timing belt, unless your belt tensioner is making noise or is grinding I would NOT replace it. If it ever makes noise it will not affect driveability and its a very sturdy bearing from what I can see. You mileage may vary with this one though. Just my opinion on that part.

Another option is to purchase a compressor and impact wrench, but know this. I borrowed a friends 300tq impact wrench and it did not even budge that bolt. I'm glad I didnt spend a bunch of money just to get the bolt off and find that I still could not.

Last option, get a chain or a belt wrench. Its basically a long bar with a chain or a belt, and some teeth cut into the bar. You can wrap it around the crank pulley and tighten it down so that it dosen't move, and then you get a big pry bar and some friends to take that crank pulley nut off. Thats probably the easiest cheapest solution I can think of. T

The bolt is a PITA which is why I just paid to have it done. Good luck to you.
