91 legend L clutch
So I have a 1991 Acura legend, and whenever I press the clutch, it makes this whirring sound like a bad bearing. Also, The clutch feels funny. It's grabby. To replace the clutch, it would cost 1200... rediculous. I found a guy I know who'll do it for a good price, but I have to buy the parts. I think the real problems are the pilot and throwout bearings. I dont like my clutch either, so I'm going to purchase a clutch kit (I believe that has a clutch disc, pressure plate, pilot bearing, and throwout bearing... allthogh the "live online help" person was not at all helpful in confirming that).
First off, where should I go to buy this and how much do you think I'll have to spend? The current compnay I'm looking through has a few diferent clutch kits. They have "replacement kits" and "performance kits" the replacement kit is over $600 while the performance kit is under $300. The replacement clutch is a circle whilc the performance is more triangular. What are the advantages of each different clutch? Also, why woudl there be such a big difference in price? I just want a clutch system that'll last me around 50-60 thousand miles... because this car will only last me that much longer.
Lastly, the car doesn't like shifting sometimes... it seems like the shifter is almost hung up on something. At first, I thought it might be the synchros, but after doing some research, I found that shifter linkage might need adjusted and the rear tranny mounts might need replaced. What do you think the problem is?
Sorry I wrote so much guys, I'm just trying to figure this out before I go home from college for christmas so I can take my car over to my friend's shop asap.
thanks,
Brian
