upgrade your electrical system in your car (extra battery, more powerful alternator) so you don't drain your main battery...unless you watch your tv w/ the car on.
The alternator won't help if he's watching the TV with the car off. With the car on, a TV won't drain enough to warrant a new alt.
Getting an extra battery is more work with rewiring an isolator. He'd be better off just getting a nice deep cycle battery
IF it's even necessary.
Get a Pioneer AVH-P7500DVD. 7" in-dash with built-in TV tuner. I love mine.
