Sometimes the piston gets sticky & won't let itself get pushed back into the bore when you release the brakes. It's not supposed to go 'all the way' back into the bore, but it's supposed to release it's pressure so the brakes don't drag.

Sometimes it's the caliper slide pins that get rusty & don't slide. Sometimes it's the pads themselves wedged tightly into the caliper bracket.
