P4 1.6 is really 2.1??
The other day I was looking at the mobo. set-up screen on my work computer, and noticed that there was a selection for the processor speed (1600 or 2133) Hmm. Well I figured that if I set it out of spec. the computer would just default back to original settings.
It runs perfectly (and quite zippy) with no errors or crashes. What gives? Is this a common thing? I read that someone else on the 'net had done this, calling it an "overclock". Is it really an overclock or was it underclocked to begin with? Getting an extra 500mhz is nothing short of amazing!
(I know that it was bought as a 1.6 Ghz)
Original: 1600
bus 100
multiplier 16
Change: 2133
bus 133
multiplier 16
I once heard that Intel had done this with some of the P3 chips.
