pardon my ignorance. from what i understand what this guy has is passed through male genes/chromosomes (i sucked at biology) and there's a higher risk of it developing but probably not until later in life. anyhow, at least the guy called and my little brother's doctors know to keep an eye out for certain things.

*We suspect (but do not have scientific proof) that people inherit something from their parents that predisposes them to develop lupus. They are not necessarily pre-destined to develop lupus, but they may be more susceptible. At the present time, there are no genetic tests to determine who is susceptible and who is not.
*Only 10 percent of lupus patients will have a close relative (parent or sibling) who already has or may develop lupus. Statistics show that only about 5% of the children born to individuals with lupus will develop the illness.
*Although lupus is known to occur within families, there is no known gene or genes which are thought to cause the illness.
