I know... its just temp until he gets a new HU. I checked and it put out a strong constant signal before the tap, and puts out the same voltage afterwards.... so there shouldnt be a prob. We spliced it in right at the wiring harness connector on the back of the HU so its not like its taking power halfway down the speaker wire, its getting it right at the same source the speaker wire is.
