it was converted to obd1 mostly for tuning issues. engine management systems are not obd2 friendly. with 12.5:1 CR on pumped gas you better have some sort of standalone. once again the only reason this particular hybrid made good numbers is because it has high compression pistons which the block was overbored for and head decked.

there was alot more work involved besides just slapping a stock f23 block and stock h23 head and and h-series tranny together making it work and have those kinds numbers.

ive seen this spreading on a few of boards now and i see alot of people posting that they are going to do this build in hope of accomplishing the same numbers but dont really understand whats involved. if you were going to build a custom setup and have maching done then might as well go all out. the only reason this guy did it cause it costed him almost nothing for the machining and block assembly.

if i were to pay to have maching done on a block cuz i sure as hell dont know how to do it or have any hookups on it, id just build my stock motor for boost. or if you got the funds start off on a stronger platform. you can pickup a h22 long blocks for $1000 all day. if your going to have pay to have machining done i.e.boring and honing, etc..., then why not go with some forged pistons like wisecos and eagle rods. upgrade to some skunk2 valvetrain (and keep boost in mind).
