Well, I can tell you that there are some rather safe places to be located in Iraq as a contractor. Al Asad for example (where I was), is a base located in an old river gorge that cannot be seen from afar. When the rockets flew, they didn't know what they were shooting at and were extremely inaccurate. The layout is very widespread as well so the chances of the insurgents hitting something were very low. We also had quick response cobras to counter attack and target aquisition radars. It made the insurgents shit their pants.
