Once you hit 7200 rpm thats the highest peak of the power band. after that it just drops.
That statment is only partialy true. The reason that "peak horsepower" is at 7200, is thats where honda quit reving the engine and placed its redline there. It is a little known fact that the h22a produces its actual peak hp at around 7600 rpm BUT the valves start floating at 7200 which is why they put such a low red line on them. I have a reprogramed ecu which moved the revlimit to 9600 and vtec kicks in at 5800 The h22a still makes PLENTY of power all the way to 8000. I have accidently reved it to about 8600 (my best friends little girl was playing with the button for the shiftlight on my tach in my car. I started racing a mustang and waited and waited for the shift light to come on it never came on because she had set it to like 11000. but i looked down and low and behold 8600)but its useable power is gone at about 8200.
