Yes, f22/h22 hybrid's were the first G2x engines! plus i heard it was slightly easier to mod f22's then f23's....good luck bro.
yeah those "kits" are ecu's socketed with chips. you have to have a chip burner and know how to load, read, write, edit roms and bins with uberdata. you would have to be OBD1 and use a p28 ecu of a sohc civic and have it socketed. you cant just learn it over night either. if you want to street tune you will have to invest in a wideband o2 like a PLX or a zeitronix and those alone are 300 bucks.

also, you do realize that he is running h22a4 pistons and the f23 block was overbored to 87mm. h22 pistons have a 10.1:1 compression ratio and with the h22 piston extra 6.3mm stroke and smaller h23 combustion chamber he calculated about 12.5:1 compression but it didnt fit in the head so he had to hone the chambers which lowered CR to 12:1 and with the head gasket he estimates about 12.25:1. do you know how difficult it is to tune a 12.25:1 CR on pumped gas? especially if your a noob trying to tune with uberdata (homemade kit). the higher the CR the less room for error. he is also in New Mexico and has 5500ft of elevation on his side.

you wont be able to do this frankenstein build under $500. the ecu/uberdata obd1 conversion setup with a wideband o2 will cost almost $500 alone. unless you have tons of parts lying around and cheap hookups at a machine shop it will cost way more. look at the donor list to build that engine:

head (modified combustion chambers), intake, distributor, wiring harness, timing belt components

block (bored to 87mm), crank, rods, alternator bracket, head gasket
1998 H22A4
pistons, pins, rings, rear engine mount
1993 H22A1
injectors, crank pulley, alternator, front engine mount, ignition coil, flywheel

water coolant pipe to mate with the H23 intake

left engine mount

not to mention all the gaskets, etc.. and that you need to plug oil drains in the block etc. etc..

the build is tight as hell but to the average joe its not as easy as it sounds and not as cheap as it looks.
