17" acura type s rims have a +55mm offset....which is pretty high considering the narrow rim widths on both cars (7" for cl-s, and 6.5" for tl-s)! high offset + narrow rim width = lots of room for wider tires and no rubbing (generally). so putting 225/45 on these rims should be fine.
stock 205/65/15 ~> rolling diameter is 25.49"
plus sizing 225/45/17 ~> rolling diameter is 24.97"
it's kinda off so try bigger profile, 225/50 ~>25.85"
too high, so try narrower width, 215/50 ~> 25.46" (almost right on!)
however if you went even wider with 235, then the profile could be lower. also rim width can be used to determine tire width...so if you went with 215/50, 215 is better suited for rims narrower than 7". if you went 7.5" you might want 225...235 for 8s.
